Respostas cardiovasculares a diferentes formulações do suplemento OxyElite Pro

Resumo

Introdução: OxyElite Pro (OEP) é um suplemento vendido com o objetivo de aumentar o metabolismo e melhorar o desempenho fí­sico. Este suplemento contém como principais ingredientes a cafeí­na e o 1,3 dimetilamilamina (DMAA) que podem atuar como estimulantes. Diversos efeitos adversos, principalmente no sistema cardiovascular, têm sido relatados após o consumo de suplementos contendo DMAA e cafeí­na, entretanto, estes efeitos são relacionados a doses altas ou desconhecidas destes suplementos e/ou a outros fatores. Objetivo: Avaliar o efeito da suplementação aguda do OEP com e sem DMAA sobre as respostas hemodinâmicas de ratos Wistar. Materiais e métodos: Ratos Wistar machos foram divididos em quatro grupos experimentais: controle, OEP-DMAA, OEP+DMAA e 2x OEP+DMAA. Todos os grupos foram submetidos a uma única administração aguda do OEP para avaliação das respostas hemodinâmicas. Resultados: A ingestão de 2x OEP+DMAA apresentou efeitos prolongados sobre a PAM, PAS, PAD, FC e DP ao longo do tempo que persistiu até 90 minutos pós-ingestão. Já a ingestão de OEP+DMAA apresentou aumento transitório sobre as respostas hemodinâmicas no tempo de 5 minutos, voltando aos valores basais rapidamente após a ingestão. A ingestão de OEP+DMAA apresentou aumentos mais prolongados apenas sobre a FC e DP com 30 minutos permanecendo até 90 minutos após a ingestão. Nenhum efeito foi observado nas respostas hemodinâmicas após o uso do suplemento OEP-DMAA. Conclusão: A suplementação com OEP contendo DMAA foi capaz de aumentar as respostas hemodinâmicas de ratos Wistar com efeito mais prolongados quando administrado em doses 2x OEP+DMAA.
