Food profile and use of nutritional supplements of practitioners of cross training of box crossfit sertão in the municipality of Mossoró
Abstract
Cross training involves several categories of physical activities, using different patterns of constantly varied and high intensity movements, requiring a good nutritional intake. The objective was to verify the food profile and use of food supplements of cross training practitioners of the box crossfit Sertão, in the city of Mossoró. Online questionnaires were produced with sociodemographic variables, time of practice of the modality, use of supplements and food intake. The research sample was calculated with a confidence level of 95% and a margin of error of 5%, totaling the amount of 169 questionnaires required. The final sample obtained was a total of 160 forms. Regarding the analysis of the time of practice of cross traning, it was found that most participants train for more than 1 year. It was observed that most of the research participants make use of supplementation, with emphasis on the use of creatine and whey protein. As for food support, it was noted that the use of healthier foods always had the highest consumption rate. In turn, foods with lower nutritional values for the practice of cross training were among the least consumed foods, including alcoholic beverages, sausages and fried snacks. Therefore, it was found that the dietary profile of the Crossfit Sertão box students can guarantee good nutritional support to meet the energy demands of this practice, as well as the supplementation used is indicated for the modality because it is classified as a high intensity activity.
