Effects of different types of creatine supplementation in musculation practicers: exploratory study
Abstract
Creatine supplementation is a common strategy for increased strength and hypertrophy among individuals who practice strength training, however the type of protocol that should be used is not consensual. The aim was verify the alterations promoted by creatine supplementation in the anthropometric and strength variables in individuals who practice resistance training with different protocols of supplementation for a period of four weeks. Twelve male volunteers, divided into placebo group (GP), stable (Cr G-1) and overload (Cr G-2) were evaluated. Before and after each group, differences were found only in Cr G-2 in body mass (BM), arm and thigh hypertrophy. The one-week overload strategy of 0.3 g/kg BM followed by 3 weeks with the consumption of 0.03g creatine was shown to be effective for BM increase and arm and thigh hypertrophy. A strategy of supplementation without overload had no ergogenic impact. The force was not changed, regardless of the type of protocol used over the four weeks.
